For Golan Levin’s Interactive Art Class, I recreated Frieder Nake’s 1965 computational art piece 13/9/65 Nr. 2 in Processing. Each time random decisions are made to draw the horizontal lines, vertical lines and circles, making it impossible to know what the piece will look like before it has finished being drawn. The slopes of the lines, density of the patterns, radii of the circles and placement of everything are variable, allowing many different iterations of the piece to result, yielding a collection of similar and yet unique works.
